Bonuses for publications

Publication bonus

Opens in a new tab.

Each year, employees and doctoral students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences (WNE) receive a publication activity bonus for publications affiliated with the University of Warsaw that were published in the previous year.

The amount of the bonus depends on the current score of the publication outlet, according to the rules of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (the minimum score to receive a bonus is 100 points). In the case of publications in academic journals, only articles published in journals indexed in Web of Science and having an Impact Factor are eligible for the bonus.

The bonus is divided among WNE staff and doctoral students who list the University of Warsaw as their affiliation. No separate application is required; however, the publications must be entered into the Polish Scientific Bibliography (PBN) system and correctly declared under the discipline of Economics and Finance (for evaluation purposes).

In addition to the basic bonus, an additional bonus may be granted if the journal in which the article was published is listed in the IDEAS/RePEc “Aggregate Rankings for Economics Journals”.

For more information, please contact Joanna Pacholska from the Research and Publications Section.

Detailed rules for awarding publication bonuses can be found in the Dean’s Regulation (PDF) .

Guidelines on author affiliation in scientific publications at the University of Warsaw

5A: A reminder about properly recording publication achievements in PBN

We would like to remind you of the Five A’s principle, which helps ensure that publication achievements are correctly entered into the PBN database:

  1. Article – When entering a peer-reviewed article, do not select the option “artykuł recenzyjny” (review article) — this category refers only to reviews of books or other scholarly works. Selecting this option results in a lower point score.
  2. Authorship – Please make sure to always mark yourself as an author of the publication and select the correct affiliation (Uniwersytet Warszawski — regardless of the publication’s language), especially in cases of co-authorship with persons from outside UW. Each author affiliated with the University of Warsaw must be marked as a POL-on author. Please also ensure that all authors of the publication are added.

Correct – with the POL-on mark:

Incorrect – without the POL-on mark:

  3. Access (Open Access) – If the article was published in open access, please indicate this in the record.
  4. Abstract – Remember to include the article’s abstract. This is particularly important for interdisciplinary publications in journals outside the field of economics and finance.
  5. AsiaEach time a publication is added to the PBN system, please contact Joanna Pacholska from the Research and Publications Section to verify the data and include the required declarations.
