The Inauguration of the Academic Year
The joint inauguration of the academic year is a special celebration of the Faculty of Economic Sciences community, bringing together students, faculty members, and friends of the Faculty.
This significant event takes place in Adam Mickiewicz Hall in the Auditorium Maximum on the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw. The ceremony is presided over by the Rector of the University of Warsaw, with the Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences delivering a speech to the Faculty community.
Participants and guests have the opportunity to attend the inaugural lecture. In the 2023/24 academic year, Professor Paweł Kaczmarczyk, Director of the Centre for Migration Research and a faculty member of the Department of Population Economics and Demography, delivered a lecture titled "Schrödinger's Migrant: How Economics Helps to Understand Migration."
For the 2024/25 academic year, Professor Leszek Wincenciak, Head of the Department of Education and Labour Economics, gave the inaugural lecture on "The Importance of Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence."
