The Jubilee of Professor Ryszard Kokoszczyński

On 19 April 2024, we celebrated the 70th birthday of Professor Ryszard Kokoszczyński, an outstanding scholar, educator to multiple generations of students, and a long-serving government official. His work and dedication have made significant contributions to the Polish banking system, the development of economic sciences, and the establishment of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw. The celebration was held at the Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace, located within the Museum of the University of Warsaw.

We were thrilled to see so many friends, colleagues, doctoral candidates, and students join us in honoring Professor Kokoszczyński. Among the attendees were numerous representatives from the University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Economic Sciences, as well as scholars from other economic universities in Poland and members of public administration, including the National Bank of Poland. The Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Professor Gabriela Grotkowska, welcomed the guests and presented the biography of the distinguished honoree. Professor Jan Jakub Michałek spoke eloquently about both Professor Kokoszczyński's professional achievements and his personal passions.

The event was complemented by a scientific conference organized by Professor Joanna Mackiewicz-Łyziak (Department of Macroeconomics and International Trade Theory) and Professor Robert Ślepaczuk (Head of the Department of Quantitative Finance and Machine Learning). Participants engaged in two sessions that focused on contemporary monetary policy, its determinants, and the modern challenges in quantitative finance.
