The Graduation Ceremony
The Graduation Ceremony has become a significant event in the calendar of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw. The first ceremony in the Faculty's history took place on 9 July 2022 at Adam Mickiewicz Hall in the Auditorium Maximum building.
We offer a brief overview of the inaugural Graduation Ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University of Warsaw, Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, and the Vice-Rector for Development, Professor Ewa Krogulec.
The event began with an address by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Gabriela Grotkowska, who congratulated the graduates on choosing to study at the University of Warsaw and emphasized that the doors of their Alma Mater would always remain open. In her speech, the Dean highlighted the importance of the University's sense of community and expressed her hope that the graduates would carry this experience with them throughout their lives.
During the ceremony, graduates were presented with congratulatory letters and symbolic gifts.
Graduation day is also an opportunity to honor Faculty members who have earned advanced academic degrees, such as Doctor, Doctor Habilitatus, Full Professor, or those promoted to the position of Associate Professor.

Each year, one of the Faculty's graduates delivers a lecture at the ceremony. In the inaugural event, Przemysław Gacek, CEO of Pracuj.pl, gave a lecture about the creation of one of the leading digital recruitment platforms and shared insights from his academic journey at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. In the following ceremony, Marcin Beme, founder of Audioteka, delivered a speech about his academic and professional experiences. The third Graduation Ceremony featured an address by Mateusz Walewski, Chief Economist at Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
As part of tradition, graduates participate in a biretta toss and take a commemorative photograph in front of the university gates. This moment is filled with emotion, smiles, and group photos, accompanied by music from the University of Warsaw Choir.
