- It is necessary to replace an ELS card in certain situations

- If the ELS card is damaged, has illegible print, and/or does not have contact readability / contactless readability by card readers, which prevents the extension of the card's validity - the student returns the card to the Dean's Office / Secretariat for Student Affairs
- ELS and personalised city transport ticket
- All ELS ID cards are issued with a ZTM "key" that allows students to encode public transport tickets on them, including the "Varsovian Card"
- The ELS ticket can be encoded at any service point in the ticket encoding network on the Warsaw City Cards
- If the ELS is damaged in a way that makes it impossible to read the ticket encoded on it, go to one of the ZTM Passenger Service Centres
- In a situation where a student receives a new ELS card, he/she may go to one of the ZTM Passenger Service Points to re-code a valid ticket from a Warsaw City Card to the new ELS card
MLEGITIMATION (national electonic ID app)
Starting in 2019, students at the University of Warsaw have been able to use mLegitimation (mLegitymacja) - a digital version of the ELS (student ID) document, which confirms student status and entitles students to statutory concessions/discounts. The digital version has been made possible through the free mObywatel app. As of February 2020, after integrating this system with Mobile USOS and connecting its production environment with the University system, the student mLegitimation can be installed on a mobile device.
