Conference summarising the ERC LABFER project
We would like to draw your attention to the international conference summarising the ERC LABFER project coordinated by Prof. Anna Matysiak.
The event, titled “Labour Market Transformations and the Future of Families”, will be held at the Faculty of Economic Sciences UW on 25th and 26th September 2026. It will bring together researchers from Poland and abroad, representing Economics, Demography, Sociology, and related disciplines. The conference programme includes sessions devoted to, among other topics, automation and labour market change, employment instability, remote and flexible work arrangements, family policies, gender inequalities, and decision‑making processes related to parenting.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by renowned scholars:
- Prof. Elena Stancanelli (Paris School of Economics)
- Prof. Yue Qian (The Chinese University of Hong Kong)
The event will also provide an opportunity to revisit key findings of the prestigious research programme “Globalisation‑ and Technology‑Driven Labour Market Change and Fertility” (LABFER), coordinated by Prof. Anna Matysiak (Department of Population Economics and Demography), laureate of the ERC Consolidator Grant 2019. The European Research Council awards highly competitive grants supporting groundbreaking research across scientific fields. These grants are offered in four categories: ERC Starting Grant, ERC Consolidator Grant, ERC Advanced Grant, and ERC Proof of Concept.
Within her ERC project, Prof. Matysiak conducted research on how dynamic labour market transformations in developed countries-driven by globalisation and technological change-affect decisions regarding starting a family. Furthermore, Prof. Matysiak is the coordinator of the LabFam Research Centre – Interdisciplinary Centre for Labour Market and Family Dynamics, established at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw.
