3rd Edition of the SPINAKER Summer School at the Faculty of Economic Sciences UW

At the end of the summer semester, the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw hosted students from over a dozen universities worldwide. They participated in summer school courses organized under the SPINAKER program. The workshops were conducted by academic teachers from  the Faculty of Economic Sciences UW and the University of Sussex, the project partner.

During a total of three two-week workshops, the students worked on the following topics:

  • fundamentals of machine learning and artificial intelligence,
  • applications of AI in financial and spatial data analysis,
  • explainable artificial intelligence (XAI),
  • business process automation,
  • ethical and legal aspects of artificial intelligence,
  • programming and analytical tools.

We welcomed representatives from academic institutions in countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland, France, Vietnam, and Brazil. For many, the summer school at the University of Warsaw was their very first opportunity to visit Poland.

All three editions of the courses took place in-person at the Faculty of Economic Sciences UW. The first edition began on June 8, and the last one concluded on July 5. Graduates of the workshops received certificates of completion in the form of micro-credentials.

We are delighted by the positive feedback from the participants, who emphasized that taking part in the summer school was a significant milestone in their educational development. We would like to thank everyone involved in making this project a success. The project coordinator was Dr. Agnieszka Różycka.

The project "Application of Artificial Intelligence in Business and Finance" (No. BPI/SPI/2024/1/00078) is implemented by the University of Warsaw as part of the SPINAKER program, organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) within the framework of the project "Support for the creation and implementation of international education programs."
