Call for Applications – SPINAKER International Education Programme
Artificial Intelligence in Business and Finance
in cooperation of the University of Warsaw with the Business School, University of Sussex
About the Programme
We invite international students to apply for an intensive education programme (IMPK) implemented under the SPINAKER – FERS 2021–2027 initiative, co-financed by the European Social Fund. The programme is designed for students interested in the application of Artificial Intelligence in business and finance.
All classes will be delivered in English by an international team of academic teachers from the University of Warsaw (Poland) and the Business School of the University of Sussex (UK).
Who can apply?
The programme is open to:
- undergraduate students in their 3rd year, including:
- international students* (from outside UW) - including participants of international mobility schemes (e.g., Erasmus+, CEEPUS),
- students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw;
- students of master’s studies:
- international students* (from outside UW) - including participants of international mobility schemes (e.g., Erasmus+, CEEPUS),
- students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw;
- students of long-cycle Master's degree programs, in their 3rd year or later, including:
- international students* (from outside UW) - including participants of international mobility schemes (e.g., Erasmus+, CEEPUS),
- students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw;
- students of doctoral studies (only Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw students).
* A foreign student is a person who has the status of a student at a foreign (non-Polish) university.
What do we offer?

Programme focus areas:
- Machine learning and AI fundamentals,
- AI applications in financial and geospatial data analysis,
- Explainable AI (XAI) techniques,
- Automation of business processes,
- Ethical and legal aspects of AI,
- Programming and data science tools.

Classes will be held on-site in the buildings of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw.
The course will also include an introductory/leveling asynchronous part (online platform) before the start of in-person classes.

How to apply?
To join the programme, candidates must:
- Familiarize yourself with the project documentation:
- Write a cover letter in English.
- Obtain a certificate/confirmation from the Dean's Office of your university confirming: the name of the university, your student status, field of study, type and degree of study (applicable to all applicants).
- Complete the declaration of participation and then send it together with the cover letter and a certificate/confirmation from the Dean's Office to
Formalities
What you need to do now:
- Download and complete the Declaration of Participation
- Write a cover letter
- Obtain a document from your home university confirming: the name of the university, your student status, field of study, type and degree of study
- Download and review the attachments to the Declaration of Participation (Information Clause, Spinnaker Programme Regulations)
- Send the documents listed in points 1-3 to by [TBA]
What you will need to do after acceptance:
After being accepted to the Spinaker Programme, you will be asked to complete the following formalities:
- You will be required to complete an online form provided by the organization providing funding for the project (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange) for record-keeping purposes
- You will be required to sign an agreement with the University of Warsaw for participation in the project (after acceptance to the Spinaker Programme, a sample agreement will be sent to you for review in advance)
- You will be required to complete the application of guest form (applies to all persons visiting the University of Warsaw for educational or professional purposes)
The project Application of artificial Intelligence in business and finance (no. BPI/SPI/2024/1/00078) is implemented by the University of Warsaw as part of the Spinaker programme, organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.
