Why the Faculty of Economic Sciences?

  • The Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw (FES UW) is the only centre in Poland that holds three Certificates of Excellence in Education from the Polish Accreditation Commission for all of the fields of study and specialisations offered by the Faculty.
  • The "Economics" programme run by the Faculty is the best programme in Poland, and "Finance and Accounting" is second in the country in the national ranking conducted by Perspektywy 2021 magazine.

  • FES UW offers highly specialised and innovative programmes in Polish and English, which are enriched by practical knowledge of advanced econometric and programming tools, e.g., SAS, STATA, R, Python, VBA, C++.
  • Apart from regular studies, the Faculty offers students many practical development tracks, such as "The Digital Economy" which is carried out with Google, "Data Mining Certification Programme" with SAS Institute Poland, or "The Anti Money Laundering Program", held with Citi Bank.
  • The Faculty lecturers use innovative, experimental methods of teaching during classes, such as projects, simulations, and case studies with the use of e-learning platforms or computer laboratories.

  • FES UW is ranked in the top 3% of scientific institutions in Europe according to the international database RePEC (Research Papers in Economics).
  • The "Finance and Accounting" and "Corporate Economics" programmes offered by the Faculty are internationally accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and students of the Faculty have the opportunity to pass part of the ACCA qualifying exams during their studies.
  • In the international ranking of Eduniversal Best Masters 2021, the courses "Data Science", "Computer Science and Econometrics" and "International Economics" were recognised as the best programmes in Eastern Europe, and in the international ranking, the English-language programme "Quantitative Finance" was ranked 12th in the world, and the programme "Finance, Investment and Accounting" was ranked 10th in the global list.

  • FES UW cooperates continually with international corporations and leading employers; according to the data from the Polish Graduate Tracking System (ELA), FES UW graduates find a job on average 2-3 months after graduation.
  • Graduates of FES UW achieve the highest average earnings in Poland, in the first year after obtaining their diplomas, according to the ranking of economic studies by the newspaper Rzeczpospolita, compiled on the basis of Polish Graduate Tracking System (ELA) data.

  • In the RePEc database, which classifies research centres from all over the world, the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw is the best institution of economics in Poland and is among the top 3% centres for economics in Europe.
  • Researchers at FES UW involve their students in the projects that are being conducted at the Faculty; over sixty national and international research projects are currently being carried out at FES UW.
  • FES UW students may also conduct their own research within the system of mini grants offered by the Faculty
  • FES UW students have the opportunity to carry out their own research with the best economists in Poland: 20% of the leading Polish researchers in the field of economics are FES UW Faculty members, and one of the Faculty's professors is ranked among the top 1% of economists in the world, according to RePEc.

  • The Faculty is a united student community; more than 25% of the students are international, from more than 60 countries worldwide.
  • The academic community of the Faculty is made up of ambitious young people who participate in the activities of the Student Government at FES, the University of Warsaw, and in the Faculty's active student societies.
