Call for applications is open for Scholarship for Student/PhD Student in OPUS 21 NCN project “Modelling and forecasting business location in context of economies of density. Theoretical, methodological and empirical approach using spatial econometrics and spatial machine learning”. The Principal Investigator in the project is prof. Katarzyna Kopczewska.
Requirements:
- status of a bachelor or master student on the day of the end of the call for applications - preferred studies in the field of economics or computer science and econometrics or data science or mathematics or computer science
- research interests in quantitative methods and / or regional studies and willingness to develop a scientific career
- very good knowledge of R and/or Python
- very good command of the English language
- preferred knowledge of spatial econometrics and visualisation
Description of tasks:
The scholarship is offered as part of the three-year project OPUS 21 NCN: “Modelling and forecasting business location in context of economies of density. Theoretical, methodological and empirical approach using spatial econometrics and spatial machine learning”. The project aims to develop a new quantitative and theoretical solution in response to how the current density of companies from various sectors affects the location decisions of other companies.
Responsibilities:
- research work on testing the models developed in the project - using spatial quantitative methods (spatial statistics, spatial econometrics and spatial machine learning)
- data visualisation and modelling results
- writing R codes and their descriptions for spatial analysis (spatial statistics, spatial econometrics and spatial machine learning)
- support in data and literature analysis, modelling and calculations (mainly in R)
- support in writing grant publications
- popularising the results, including on the website
