The research literature on entrepreneurship and innovation has expanded rapidly in recent years. With reference to mega-trends such as digitalization and urbanization, and growing calls for sustainability transitions, inclusion and industrial policy, this lecture will present an overview of current and emerging “hot topics” in the literature on entrepreneurship and innovation. The main aim is to identify and assess the broad directions of the research literature, place these directions in a wider context and to point to relevant research questions and avenues for future research.
