Career perspectives

Graduates of the Data Science and Business Analytics programme have the knowledge and skills that distinguish high-end data analysts:

  • knowledge of statistical programming languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.),
  • extensive knowledge and skills in statistics and econometrics, as well as machine learning,
  • appropriate mathematical background,
  • extensive knowledge and skills in data analysis and cleaning,
  • the ability to visualise and communicate the results obtained.

The graduate is able to conduct a thorough analysis independently, using available data. The graduate has the knowledge and skills necessary for:

  • the collection, processing, and in-depth analysis of data, in order to prepare it for analysis,
  • the formulation and verification of research hypotheses relevant to the problem and the appropriate choice of methods for their verification,
  • presenting the results obtained in a comprehensible and communicative way,
  • unlimited self-improvement in areas of expertise, based on the latest research.

Graduates of the Programme stand out:

  • with their creativity and curiosity, enriched by specialised knowledge and skills in data analysis, which give them the unique ability to find the correct solutions and make the right decisions,
  • with their research independence as well as high-level teamwork skills, and their status as trustworthy and appreciated employees, both in analytical and managerial positions.

In addition, the study programme and its level of difficulty assume that students will be prepared to conduct independent research and continue their education with doctoral studies in the field of Data Science, at Polish and/or foreign universities.

The DS degree programme is designed to prepare students for a comprehensive career in any company or industry where complex and accurate data analysis is required.

A solid theoretical and empirical foundation will allow graduates to flexibly adapt to the demands of a changing labour market. Their workplace can be nearly any institution/company where advanced data analysis is needed. Examples of institutions/companies and their departments where Data Scientist skills are needed:

  • Financial and insurance institutions such as banks, brokerage houses, leasing companies, investment funds, insurance companies, FinTech companies, etc. (Risk Department, Sales Department, Strategy Department, Marketing Department, etc.),
  • Large corporations (Sales Departments, Marketing Departments, Business Development Departments, etc.)
  • Telecommunications companies,
  • Marketing companies,
  • Pharmaceutical companies (clinical research departments),
  • Media houses,
  • Consulting companies,
  • Other companies that need comprehensive and accurate data analysis.
