Warsaw International Economic Meeting 2026
The Warsaw International Economic Meeting (WIEM) is an academic conference that each year gathers researchers from around the world, working in all areas of economics, with a special focus on macroeconomics, international trade, labour economics, education, microeconomics, industrial organization, finance, and econometrics.
This year’s edition of the flagship event of the Faculty of Economic Sciences will take place on 29–30 June. The keynote lecture will be delivered by Prof. Oded Galor from Brown University. Prof. Galor’s research interests include Unified Growth Theory, evolutionary economics, and comparative economic development. He is the initiator and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Economic Growth, as well as an editor of several other scientific journals. In 2025, he was awarded a Doctorate Honoris Causa by Nicolaus Copernicus University for his contributions to research on the causes of economic development and for formulating a unified theory of economic growth. As in previous years, during the conference the Best Paper Prize for Young Economists will be awarded to up to two authors of the most outstanding presentations.
We warmly invite you to attend and to submit your abstract or research paper via the dedicated form. The deadline for submissions is 30 April. The event is coordinated by Prof. Leszek Wincenciak, Head of Department of Education and Labour Economics.
