Research Assistant in the NCN project OPUS22 “Development of a methodology for estimating cultural ecosystem services”

Ecosystems generate a range of goods and services important for human well-being, collectively called ecosystem services. Yet, it has turned out difficult to move from general statements about the very large benefits nature provides to people to credible, quantitative estimates of ecosystem service values. Spatially explicit values of services across landscapes that might inform land-use decisions are still very rare, the main goal of this project is to fill in this gap.

This will be achieved by:

• developing a new approach to collect nature-based recreational data which will enable to understand and quantify how people make nature based recreational choices,

• developing a revealed preference modelling framework to model sites selection for recreation,

• developing a combined stated and revealed preference modelling framework which will enable to link recreational benefits with characteristics of different ecosystems.

Main tasks of the Research Assistant in the project involve literature reviews, programing, data analysis, drafting and editing academic publications, and designing new research studies.
