Faculty researchers on international scientific workshop within Polish-German research project Beethoven (NCN/DFG).

These and related interdisciplinary questions were the topic of an international scientific workshop, which took place in Gdańsk on September 8-11, 2022, as part of the Polish-German research project “Economics of compliance with constitutions” lead by prof. Katarzyna Metelska-Szaniawska, realised within the Beethoven contest organised by National Science Centre and Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

The workshop was attended by project partners from Universität Hamburg (prof. Stefan Voigt, prof. Jerg Gutmann), a team from the Faculty of Economic Sciences (prof. Katarzyna Metelska-Szaniawska, prof. Jan Fałkowski, Jacek Lewkowicz, Ph.D., Anna Lewczuk, Ph.D.) and guests (prof. Christian Bjoernskov from Aarhus, prof. Niclas Berggren from Stockholm/Prague, prof. Bernd Hayo from Marburg and Jarosław Kantorowicz, Ph.D. from Leiden).

Presentations and discussions within this international group of respected specialists in the field of constitutional economics, political economy, public choice, institutional economics and economic analysis of law concerned the latest research conducted using advanced econometric techniques and the Comparative Constitutional Compliance Database created as part of the project (https://econpapers.repec.org/paper/zbwilewps/57.htm), as well as the newest machine learning tools and experimental techniques.

The scientific enthusiasm accompanying the discussions translated into the decision to continue cooperation between the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw and the University of Hamburg in subsequent research projects after 2022.
