Researcher of the Faculty of Economic Sciences granted „Fulbright Senior Award” scholarship
18 March 2021
We are delighted to inform that Aleksandra Wiśniewska, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Chair of Microeconomics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences received the „Fulbright Senior Award” scholarship.
The Fulbright Senior Award gives an opportunity to conduct a research or research and teaching project at any accredited institution of higher education in the U.S. In 2020 The Board of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission nominated 10 candidates for the scholarship from eight polish universities.
Aleksandra Wiśniewska, Ph.D.’s project „Value of Performance. Extended cultural economics approach” is about the value of theater. Recognizing limitations of non-market valuation broadly used in the European context as an advisory tool for cultural policies, the project develops the concept of performance-commodity, rooted in the analysis of the copyright laws. It enables identification of the components of performance judged as artistically valuable enough to translate into economic value. Finally, American market theater data will be analyzed with the use of econometric tools. This research assumes close cooperation with prof. Derek Miller from the Harvard University, the author of the concept of performance-commodity, the owner of the extraordinary Broadway database.
