Students of Faculty of Economic Sciences won The Rotman European Trading Competition 2018 in Rome!

The Rotman European Trading Competition 2018 is a three-day competition organized by the LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome and the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. The team representing the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw achieved great success by winning the first prize in the contest. The second and the third place were taken by BI Norwegian Business School from Oslo and Stockholm School of Economics from Riga, respectively.
During the competition, 39 teams from 36 countries from all over Europe competed in a simulated real-time market. Five various cases required knowledge and skills from fields of asset pricing, trading strategies, macroeconomics, credit risk and asset management on illiquid markets. Immediate adjustments of the strategy to the changing market conditions, nerves of steel and ability to make decisions under uncertainty were extremely important for success. Triumph of our team proved a high quality of Quantitative Finance program on Faculty of Economic Sciences.
The University of Warsaw was represented by the following team: Katarzyna Kryńska, Marta Małek, Kamil Mazur, Przemysław Ryś (leader). Robert Ślepaczuk, PhD, from the Department of Quantitative Finance was the team advisor.
